The following report was submitted by North Carolina Agent Markain.

Agent: Markain
Base: North Carolina
Date of incident: Saturday, December 20-21, 2002
Time of incident: Approximately 1:30 am

Description: Early Saturday morning I received a call from another agent advising me that on Friday night one of the neighbors had reported strange noises and shadows moving through his backyard, which borders on a large wooded area.

A foot investigation of the surrounding woods the next morning led us to a rundown structure that appeared to have been a house at one time. After confirming the presence of vampires, we returned to our collection house to get our gear. I slipped into my kevlar vest and got my five point, while the others brought along axes, baseball bats and whatever else seemed "kill worthy."

We surrounded the structure and I had Kevin (another Brotherhood/FVZA member) throw two flash grenades inside. Moments later, a bright, sun-like flare lit up the surroundings (this thing could have blinded a small city). We heard screams coming from inside, along with clawing and stumbling noises. After a few minutes, the door flung open and I saw a horrifying creature with pale, veiny skin. The thing reminded me of one of those shaved cats. Its head was misshapen, as if it had been pounded from the inside. It had no hair to speak of, and its arms were a mass of bone and skin. The sun made it claw at its eyes like a madman, causing blood to spurt from them.

Stunned as I was, it took me a moment to find the handle of the five point. Once I did, I withdrew it from its scabbard (it had never felt heavier) and swung with panic and rage. The blade flew through the air, sliced the vampire's neck and impaled itself in the door with a horrible rattle that I won't soon forget. Blood burst from the vampire's neck, and when it bent over, its head fell clean off.

The other team members rushed forward and set upon the other two vampires, killing them in a matter of seconds. I yanked my blade from the door and wiped the infected blood off on the bushes. While we stood around catching our breath, I looked down at the vampire I had killed. Its eyes had been completely burned out by the flash grenades and its face was marked by long gouges from where it had clawed at its eyes. Even in death, it was frightening to behold.
