It's a victory in the battle for individual firearms rights, but not the war, at least according to this Chicago Ward Room Article. I've also heard that the D.C. city council passed additional gun control restrictions after a similar SCOTUS ruling 2 years ago.

Damn fine start tho. And more than they had going for them yesterday.

DC might have been able to vomit up some regulations that make it hard to own a handgun. And they are actually entirely full of shit, like ballistic fingerprinting. But its a beach head.

Some Romes just ain't built in a day. Gotta start somewhere.

If someone in 2005 told me that there would be two different pro Second Amendment SC rulings in DC and Chi Town within 2 years of each other I woulda asked them what they smoked.

I'd like to see Daley walk the streets of Chicago for a week without police escort, that's entertainment!

Seriously though, the fact that it was yet another 5-4 vote shows that at least four justices like to legislate from the bench. How could anyone who has any knowledge of the writings and correspondence of those who wrote the Constitution have doubts about what they meant? If the state of Illinois or the city of Chicago banned religious speech how would those justices found?

I find astounding that in response to the USSC ruling Daley said, We are a nation of laws, not guns." Could he and liberal pinheads like him be any less hypocritical? "We are a nation of laws..." until it comes to such laws as immigration where they are more than happy to give the illegal a pass.

Update: Chicago Replaces Gun Ban with “Constitutional” Gun Restrictions

According to this CNN Justice article, requirements/restrictions of the new ordinance include:

o 1 operable gun per household. Additional guns must be trigger-locked or locked-up completely,
o A state firearms permit and registration with the Chicago Police,
o 4 hours of firearms training and 1 hour of practice.

The accompanying video also mentions:

o If there’s a minor in the house, all guns must be trigger-locked & locked up (so much for operability),
o Assault weapons & gun shops are banned in the city.

An NRA representative, interviewed in the video, indicated NRA’s readiness to take Chicago back to court.
Thus begins the next battle in the war for individual firearm rights.

Yup, and they are on even shakier ground than they were in the last battle. Can't stop the bumrush.

You know...as much as I want to write an obscenity laced paragraph about the powers that be in Chi Town, its amazing how cool with this kind of shit most regular people can be. Especially those who SHOULDN'T be.

At the start of my course I was pretty sure it was going to be one rowdy ass pro gun environment.

Shouldn'ta held my breath. Had fuckbrains who never had a real gun in their life tellin me about how I shouldn't be able to hunt with my AR or a pistol. WTF, over? You would figure in a gunsmithing course, no one would be that eager to take food of their own table, or be...I dunno the word...just plain Commie enough to tell me what I should or shouldn't be able to do, when they have dick in the way of experience.

They hurt as much as the politicians do. Every bit. When I was younger, I would be a lot more eager to debate em, get in long talks, try and straighten that shit out. That was before realizing how utterly pointless it is 99% of the time, and recognizing em for the cockfags they are.

Course most of em wanted to seque into pogue ass rear echelon big organization law enforcement jobs, so fuck em. They'll blend right in.

May their chains rest lightly upon em, and may they continue to wonder why I never had jack shit to do with em outside of school.

Cause thats what it comes down to. It ain't a matter of politicans at all. Its a matter of people. The pussy assed gun owners here can all fornicate themselves, for all the good they do. Nothin aint ever gonna change with that mentality afloat.

Good to see that at least down south...things aint at that point.
