Magnetic fields, among other things, could be involved in haunting phenomena, according to this New Scientist article. One scientist devised a magnetic-field-producing helmet, using it to induce an “ethereal presence” in some subjects. Other investigators created equipment to measure surrounding magnetic fields. Its use in a haunted castle identified the metal in a mattress as the source of “complex magnetic fields” that, the investigators say, could be stirring up a fright.

All of this is controversial however, since other scientists have produced similar studies that don’t show a causal relationship between magnetism and ghostly intimations. Human suggestibility, according to these skeptical scientists, could be a more likely cause.

Happy Halloween

A very interesting theory. As a body moves atop the springs it changes the magnetic fields. Kinda like sleeping on a fear cage.
