Well you are right, once they find out a headshot kills a zombie, a huge difference will be made.
Jus another note. Are the zombies really that weak? _________________

Weak in what way?
I think they do everything as strongly as they can, so in physical force I would never underestimate them, but their speed is low, they are dumb, and they are a victim to human physiology.
Killing one might be hard but incapacitating one PHYSICALLY (as opposed to psychologically) is the same as any other humanoid.
I think one other boost they get is how shit scary they would be the first time someone encounters them, and the fact they are going to eat you and turn you into one. Thats an advantage.
Otherwise...
Shoot em, shoot em lots. They're slow and they dont know what they are doing other than advance straight at the sound of the human. _________________ And it's on through the night

Well zombies are weak as far as speed and mind goes, but they will never stop (until you kill them) . When in the tens they may not be a problem, in the hundred they can be contained. But unless you got some serious man power, you could be easily overwelmed by a few thousand of them. _________________

IF you can't get out of dodge.
If you have your back to a wall, and that many coming, and no hammer of God to call down and bail you out, you are well and truly boned.
The just keep comin til they die thing is a knife that truly cuts both ways.
Sometimes, it makes them more dangerously. Sometimes, somethin with smarts would leave, not let you shoot him, and come back to fight again.
For the most part they are all going to be taking the most direct approach to you too. Gotta watch ones that shamble outside the box, but still.
Dangerous as it is, it lends itself to predictability that wouldn't be there if their CPU actually worked. _________________ And it's on through the night

I also guess it depends on the type of zombie you're talking about. The one we're all expecting, the shamblers, aren't working with even a third of a deck of cards. There are so many ways to take them out without firing a shot if even just a tiny bit of thought is put into it.
Now, if they are the coked up super speed zombies... I'm not sure what the end result would be. Those zombies are more like incredibly dangerous predators which man hasn't had to deal with since we first climbed out of the trees. _________________

Yeah, those ones would be a game changer alright. _________________ And it's on through the night

Yeah... in that event the spread of the infection would be magnified by ten at least.
An interesting side thought to super speed zombies... does that mean the rate of decay would be much faster since they would break down their muscles, skin cells, etc. much quicker through use? _________________

If they were truly dead, I suppose that would make sense. They'd probably be incredibly clumsy as well.
Living zeds (such as in 28 Days Later) would not suffer from many of those issues, but luckily gangrene, eating raw meat, and starvation would quickly thin them out.
One thought I did have about the military in a ZA: what about the forces scattered all across the planet? Think they would try to recall all of them to the homefront, or have them hold in place? |

Depends on the nature of the threat. I think if it were so terrible that we had martial law in the US they would definitely bring their forces home. And I feel that would go for most countries world wide.
If they could use the national guard/reserves/police/etc. to keep things under control I think they'd leave them where they are but on high alert.
Any military guys please chime in though, I'm just going by the little knowledge I get from my brothers. _________________
