The movie is getting good reviews, heres one.
It's 4am and I'm clearly fading, so I'll try to do this one it's well deserved justice in a brief fashion.
It would be sacrilege to watch this film without seeing it's predecessor, which, funny enough, I thought was mediocre after all the hype surrounding it. An effective little zombie film, [rec] strayed into territory which I think made it wildly popular because of where it originated, not necessarily because of it's content. However, this sequel clearly proved both director's merits as it went in a wildly unforseen direction and crushed any notion the first was a fluke, or that [rec] 2 was made just to make a buck.
I can't ruin the story, and you won't want me to. So, I'll try and tell you what little I can as I sit here wanting a smoke and some sleep. The story starts only a few minutes after the original film ended. A swat team is going in under the supervision of a government official. The film does have some of the people involved in the first. There's a lot more shaky cam and first person action. So basically, they used the exact same method they used in the first, and blew it out of the water.
But, best of all, we do find out more about the virus.
Did they top the blood, gore, and first-person camera head-smashing-in of the first film? Yes, yes, and hell yes. I didn't think it was possible, but somehow the filmmakers pulled off such a feat, that I am excited at the reported possibility of a [rec] 3. Furthermore, the script borders on genius.
That's it.. HIGHLY recommended, not just to zombie fans, but to all film folks

So I watched this film. I gotta say it scared the shit out of me, and again I too watched itat 4am. Freaked the shit out of me. Really good movie and the concept was amazing, I didn't see it coming at all. Ending was nasty, all I gotta say. Wow. _________________ Precor Incendia Intus |
